Operational Control

Operational control is the process of obtaining timely information on deviations from performance standards, determining the causes of the deviations, and then taking corrective actions.

The four step process is:

  1. Set standards of performance, e.g., Monthly sales per employee should be greater than $12,000
  2. Measure actual performance
  3. Identify deviations from established standards
  4. Initiate corrective action
