Qualitative Forecasting Tools

Any subjective, judgmental approach to collecting forecast data or making forecasts. Estimates may be collected as point estimates, ratings or judgments. Common tools include sales force estimates of sales, surveys of consumers, Delphi method, and scenarios. Qualitative or judgmental approaches can help in both short-term and very long-term forecasts. These tools can also supplement forecasts based on the use of quantitative methods.
