Slack is the amount of time that a specific task in a project network can be delayed without causing a delay in the project. Slack is also called float in some sources. The amount of time that all tasks in a project can be delayed without endangering the project deadline is termed total float or total slack. Time needed beyond the scheduled completion time is termed negative float or negative slack.
